Achievements of Scientific Research：

SWA has made remarkable achievements on promoting science technology. A series of significant critical techniques have been created; a  large amount of new products have been developed which met the very need of the market and filled a domestic vacancy; with the combination of "producing, learning and researching" in an enterprise, implementing technology innovation, importing and digesting & assimilating, tackling key scientific problems, technological developing and extending application of scientific results, launching extensive activities of technology innovation and rationalization proposal.

SWA accomplished 38 state scientific key projects, 66 new technological developing projects, and extended utilization of 110 science technology outcomes. SWA exploited 3680 items of new products for military and civil use, among which 201 items won the Prize of Science Technology Progress entitled by the state, provincial (or ministerial) and municipal governments, 6 items were patented by the State Intellectual Property Bureau, and 41 items of products were awarded with the title of "Excellent Product" and "Hi-tech New Product" by the state, provincial (or ministerial) governments successively for 50 times, 2 items of products have gained the National Gold Medal Prize for 5 times, 4 items have gained the National Silver Medal Prize for 8 times. Around 72% of the products have reached the international level. Up until the year 2004, the contribution proportion delivered to the enterprise's growth by science technology have been up to 65%.

Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering：   

Zen Sumin, academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, is an aluminium processing expert and one of the predecessors in China's modern die-forging technology for Al-alloys. He took charge of rese-arching and producing over 100 varieties of new products with success, and created 19 items of new techniques of advanced international level , among which 15 items have won the Prize of State Science Technology (2 items with top grade award, 6 items with first and second grade award ), 23 items have won the science technology prize of provincial level .
